Mx. & Mx. Series

Mx. & Mx. is divided into two series: Mr. & Mr. and Mrs. & Mrs. Recently exhibited in Pingyao, China at the Pingyao International Photo Festival, this body of work keeps growing in number. Each series keeps with the rest of our experiments by appropriating vintage photography. In this context, we pair turn-of-the-century studio portraits of two men into single images. Whimsical groupings reference the complexities of queer identity and the often convoluted morphing of two beings into a single relationship. These "couples" awkwardly hold space in absurd and monstrous fashion, hanging together like suspended trophies.
